WELCOME TO HOOP KIDZ
At HOOP KIDZ, we serve up a fun and rewarding basketball learning experience. From our after school camps during the week, to our Saturday and Summer Camps at the Jamaica College basketball court, HOOP KIDZ is a co-ed basketball camp geared to teach young kids fundamental basketball skills in a fun learning environment. Kids learn dribbling, passing, shooting form, triple threat stance, defensive stance, positioning and team work. We are committed to giving our kids a head start in developing their basketball game while prioritizing their enjoyment of the game. HOOP KIDZ offers a wide variety of entertaining, engaging and inspiring basketball activities for boys and girls from ages 7 to 11.
The HOOP KIDZ experience promotes confidence, independence, decision making, socialization, skill building, creativity, and self discovery in a safe and nurturing environment. Our kids are encouraged to be themselves,
to try something new, and most importantly, to have fun!
Basketball is an exciting game, played by millions of young boys and girls around the world.
The sport fosters the development of peer relationships, team spirit, confidence and self-esteem, leadership qualities, and physical health. Basketball is a welcoming and inclusive sport that
can be played by people of all ages, shapes, sizes and abilities.
Best of all, basketball is fun to play!
WHY HOOP KIDZ?
Unfortunately, most young people in Jamaica don’t start learning to play basketball until High School. By that time, they are already way behind their peers in the US and with lucrative NCAA college scholarships to compete for, there’s a lot of catching up to do. At Hoop Kidz, we are committed to giving kids a good head start by shaping a basketball experience that balances health, well-being and teaching the fundamentals of the sport, with fun and overall enjoyment.

COVID-19 COMPLIANT CAMP RULES & GUIDELINES
Let me start by wishing you health and safety during this difficult Covid-19 pandemic. We at Hoop Kidz are parents too and are just as concerned about keeping our kids healthy and active during these days of online classes and little physical activity. Like you, we want our kids back on the playground running and jumping and getting their clothes dirty. So we’ve done the necessary checks and consulted the Ministries of Health & Wellness and the Ministry of Education and Youth to figure out how we can get our kids back on the playground and away from the computer.
Below are the Covid-19 protocols that we’ve adapted to govern our November – December After-School Basketball Camp at the Jamaica College Basketball court. We believe that these guidelines will help us to create a clean and safe environment for our kids, our staff, and our communities, while allowing the little ones to learn and play the game of basketball which they love so much (not to mention lose some of the zoom pounds they’ve put on).
And for those who’ve never played basketball before, perhaps now is an opportune time to learn a new sport while staying fit and healthy. Take a look at our new, Covid-19 compliant camp setup below and feel free to give us a call at 876-591-8281 to discuss any concerns or questions you may have about our new After-School Basketball Camp.
See you soon.
COVID-19 CAMP RULES & GUIDELINES
Campers will bring their own water bottles. Campers will not be allowed to share cups or water bottles. Water coolers or water stations will not be available.
All of the basketballs, cones and playing equipment will be wiped down and sanitized both before and after each camp day.
Campers will be prohibited from licking their fingers or spitting on the court. Any repeated and deliberate violation of that policy will result in removal from camp.
Campers will be required to sanitize their hands before the start of each camp session and after it ends. Hand sanitizer will be provided by the Hoop Kidz admin staff.
Temperature checks will be done at the start of each camp session. Persons who report with abnormally high temperatures will not be allowed to train and will be referred to our on-site public health rep
Training activities and scenarios will be based around those skills and drills (shooting, dribbling, passing, etc) that allow for social distancing. Campers will be expected to keep the social distance of 6 feet plus. Hoop Kidz will have a designated staff member on site with the sole responsibility of maintaining social distancing.
Physical barriers such as partitions, cones, lines on the floor etc will be used to enforce social distancing and grouping
Any situation that calls for campers to be in line will require 6 feet distancing.
Campers will be assigned to a specific pod group on the first day of camp and must stay in that pod group throughout the whole camp. Each 1 hour camp will have a maximum of 15 kidS, divided into 3 pods groups of no more than 5-6. Each group will be issued with color-coded jerseys to ensure compliance.
Pods will rotate through 3 training stations (shooting, passing, dribbling). Training stations will be spaced at least 20 feet from each other and separated by barriers. Pods will rotate through each 20 minute station to complete the hour, after which they will be required to sanitize their hands again while making their exit.
A new set of basketballs will be used for the next incoming group
Each camper is required to bring a face mask and have it on at check in as well as on when they leave. Face masks will not be required to be worn during drills and activities. In the event that a specific situation or drill makes social distancing difficult, participants will be asked to put on their face mask. If a participant chooses not to wear a face mask when required, he or she will be required to sit out for that specific activity.
